Jerry Kennedy worked for over thirty years as a guitarist, producer and A&R man for Mercury Records, attaining success in all three endeavors. He can be heard on the majority of artists recording for Mercury in the 1960's and 1970's like Faron Young, Tom T. Hall, Dave Dudley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Drusky and Roger Miller. On several of their albums he also was the producer. In 1968 he became vice president of Mercury.
Jerry Kennedy also recorded several instrumental albums, his album "Jerry Kennedy & Friends" features prominent guests like Roy Drusky, the Statler Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Rodriguez and, of course, Lloyd Green, doing a duet with Pete Drake.
