Dickey Lee

Originally more songwriter than singer, Dickey Lee had his first major breakthrough when George Jones recorded his "She Thinks I Still Care" in 1962 and stayed on #1 in the country charts for six weeks. Nevertheless, he continued to focus more on songwriting until he signed a recording contract with RCA in 1969. He first reached the top ten with "Never Ending Song Of Love" in 1971 and had a #1 hit ("Rocky", 1975), followed by a #3 hit ("9,999,999 Tears") later the same year.

Although Dickey Lee's music often was hard on the edge to crossover and pop sounds, you can hear some very nice steel playing by Lloyd Green on several of his records.
