Mel Street

He was the quintessential honky tonk singer, unfortunately he started his career in a time when the pure honky tonk sound with steel and fiddles wasn't the big craze anymore. His career only lasted about eight years, from his first major release, the self-penned "Borrowed Angel" to his untimely death in 1978, but the records the left us are some of the best pieces of music ever recorded in the genre.

The combination of Mel Street's voince and Lloyd Green's steel guitar are still standing out  as a lasting example of inspired and tasty singing and playing.
