Information and News:
Who is Who on Record:
Today's records usually provide exact information about the musicians, but the records of the past usually don't have that information. You'll find name and photo of the featured singer and some liner notes about the star, that's it. The musicians remain anonymous.
In this section I'll try to identify some of the players for you. The information comes either from the players themselves, from other experts who know details about the recording sessions or from research labels like Bear Family Records who reissue the old material with exact information about the session players. Below you will find the song list in alphabetical order with the vocalist and the steel player. Please keep in mind that I am referring to the original version of the song, later recordings are indicated, they might have been done with different musicians! The list contains more than 8,000 songs, but you might still miss your favorite song - if you have information you would like to see included, please drop me a line, I'll be more than happy to include it in the list!
Any requests, comments or feedback are welcome and will be reflected in this page! Check back for frequent updates!

Those who are interested in collecting old records might be interested if steel guitar was used on a specific album and, of course, who played it. The information is added as it becomes available, it is also noted in some cases if a specific album does not have any audible steel guitar accompaniment.
Important Note: Not all albums feature steel guitar on every cut, several cuts may have no audible steel at all! If more players are listed for one album, it might be that player A is featured on eleven cuts while player B only played one song. OK, now here is the list...
